Parenting Journey

Parenting Journey

Parenting Journey is a home visitation program that provides support for families experiencing complex social, emotional and familial challenges that may impact overall family functioning, parent-child relationships and the well-being and development of children and youth.

We help families to identify their needs and to set goals that improve their lives. We work with families who have children from ages 3-18 years.

Our home consultants work with families to build meaningful relationships while identifying their strengths, challenges, and what resources are readily available to them. We then help prioritize each family’s needs and provide support in those areas.

Our Mission

Kings County Family Resources Centre provides community-based programs and services that promote healthy family development through acceptance, communication, and education in a supportive and respective environment.

Our Vision

That all families have the opportunity and the resources to reach their full potential.

Four hands of the family, a baby, a daughter, a mother and a father. Concept of unity, support, protection and happiness.

Your Parenting Journey Consultant Can…

  • Meet with you in your home, at our Centre or at any other comfortable community space to decide if this program is right for you and your family’s needs.
  • Provide individualized support to parents and children or youth.
  • Connect you with other community resources and provide referrals as needed.
  • Attend appointments with you such as school, counselling, medical, legal, foodbank, etc.
  • Share important information on child, youth and family growth and development.
  • Provide regular visits and phone calls to support you in reaching your family goals.

Michelle Parrish - Parenting Journey Home Visitor Consultant

Hello, my name is Michelle Parrish and I’m a Parenting Journey Home Visitor Consultant as well as an Outreach worker.

I’ve been working with children and families for over 25 years and have a passion for helping others. I’m one of the oldest in a family of 15 so I have been surrounded by children for most of my life.

In my free time, I love spending time with my husband, grandchildren, family, and of course, my dogs.

Being out in nature with the ones I love, my camera and pooches is my happy place and it’s how I spend a lot of my free time.

I love to garden, hike and do anything that requires me to be outside.
